Platform methodology
Methodology
DroidWatch is a public robotaxi deployment observatory. The map answers one question: where are robotaxi services operating or being tested? Coverage may expand to other sectors over time; the V1 dataset focuses on public robotaxi operational and testing deployments.
What DroidWatch tracks
DroidWatch is a data platform for real-world public robotaxi deployments. Coverage may expand to delivery robots, autonomous drones, humanoid robots, autonomous shuttles and other sectors — each with its own rules when added.
For the current V1 release, the active dataset includes public robotaxi operational and testing deployments tracked on the map. Operational entries generally correspond to public passenger services without an in-vehicle safety driver; testing entries cover public pilots and trials that meet inclusion criteria.
Operational vs Testing
Each point on the map is labeled with a deployment status. These labels describe how the service is operating in public, not whether a company holds a testing permit in isolation.
- Operational — Public operations that meet DroidWatch operational inclusion criteria for the deployment (typically without an in-vehicle safety driver for robotaxis).
- Testing — Public testing or pilot operations that DroidWatch is tracking when they meet inclusion criteria (for example, an open pilot with public riders or equivalent public activity).
The V1 robotaxi dataset is currently almost entirely Operational; the map and listings support both statuses as qualifying deployments are added.
Future sectors
Planned expansion beyond V1 robotaxis may include:
- Delivery robots
- Autonomous drones
- Humanoid robots
- Autonomous shuttles
Each sector will define its own inclusion rules and status criteria when launched.
Sources
Every deployment on DroidWatch must link to at least one public source.
Accepted sources include:
- Company press releases
- Reuters and major media
- Investor relations materials
- Official company statements
- Public regulatory filings or announcements, when available
